Maryellen Stipe: Grief Counseling & Faith-Integrated Therapy

Maryellen Stipe is the Founder and Director of 70 West Counseling, a faith-based center in Arvada, Colorado. Her approach to therapy is deeply rooted in over 40 years of ministry and community service. Formerly, Maryellen served as the Director of Crossroads Counseling and the Women’s Ministry at Crossroads Church, which she founded alongside her late husband, Pastor Tom Stipe.

Having walked the road of ministry leadership and personal loss, Maryellen offers a unique, empathetic perspective for those facing “church hurt,” compassion fatigue, and complex grief. She holds an M.A. in Counseling from Denver Seminary and specializes in integrating biblical wisdom with clinical, evidence-based practices. Her goal is to provide a holistic, safe environment where individuals can process their pain and discover a renewed sense of purpose.

Maryellen’s extensive career includes a significant forty-year tenure as the Director of the Women’s Ministry at Crossroads Church of Denver, where she provided spiritual and community guidance alongside her late husband, Tom Stipe. This deep background provides her unique expertise in Pastoral Care, Church Hurt, and Women’s Issues. As the leader of the counseling center and a Counselor Supervisor, she focuses on counseling education and actively mentors students from Colorado Christian University. Maryellen continues to serve her community by preaching and providing high-quality, experienced clinical care.
