Teen Counseling & Adolescent Therapy in Arvada
Helping Teens Find Their Own Way Forward
A confidential, judgment-free space to navigate anxiety, identity, and the pressure of growing up.

When the Bedroom Door Stays Closed
Adolescence is a complex bridge between childhood and adulthood, and the crossing is rarely smooth. At 70 West Counseling, our approach to teen counseling in Arvada provides a stable foundation for families navigating this shift. We understand that the modern adolescent faces unique pressures—from academic stress to social media navigation—that can often lead to anxiety and depression. Our Arvada therapists are here to serve as your family’s guide to wellness during these pivotal years.
When you feel like you are walking on eggshells, unsure if a simple question will trigger an argument or silence, our Arvada therapists are here to help. We are dedicated to providing the mental health support teens need to find their own way forward by creating essential pathways to healing and connection.
You might be noticing:
- Withdrawal: They used to tell you everything; now you get one-word answers.
- The “Digital Wall”: They seem more connected to their phone than the real world.
- Mood Volatility: Highs and lows that seem to come out of nowhere.
- School Avoidance: “Sick days,” missing assignments, or crushing perfectionism.
You aren’t losing them. They are just trying to figure out who they are separate from you. We provide the neutral ground where they can do that safely.
Teen Confidentiality & Building Trust
For therapy to work, your teen needs to know they can speak freely without fear of punishment or lecture. This privacy is the foundation of the therapeutic relationship.
- The Deal: We offer your teen confidentiality. We do not report back on every complaint they have about rules, friends, or school.
- The Exception: Safety is non-negotiable. If your teen discloses that they are hurting themselves, hurting others, or being hurt, we will tell you immediately.
- The Result: When teens know their secrets are safe (within safety limits), they stop defending themselves and start doing the actual work of healing.
Treating Teen Anxiety, Depression & Social Media Stress
Social Anxiety & The “Digital Fishbowl” Teens today are under constant surveillance via social media. We help them disconnect from the “likes,” manage FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out), and build genuine, face-to-face confidence.
Academic Burnout & Perfectionism The pressure to perform for college apps is higher than ever. We help high-achievers manage stress, separate their worth from their grades, and prevent burnout before they hit college.
Identity & Self-Discovery “Who am I?” is the biggest question a teen asks. Whether exploring their values, gender identity, or future goals, we offer a non-judgmental space to explore without pressure.
Depression & Self-Harm
If your teen is using pain to cope with numbness, we use evidence-based protocols to replace self-destructive behaviors with healthy coping mechanisms.

Parent Support: From Manager to Consultant
Parenting a teen requires a shift from being the “Manager” (controlling every detail) to being the “Consultant” (offering guidance when asked).
- This transition is painful and scary.
- We support you in this process.
- We help you set boundaries that respect their growing independence while keeping them safe.
- We facilitate family sessions when communication has completely broken down.
High-Quality Care for Every Family Budget
We believe financial stress shouldn’t prevent your child from getting help. We offer a multi-tiered approach to ensure professional support is accessible to every family.
- Licensed Clinicians: Our experienced LPCs and Psychotherapists provide specialized care for complex clinical cases.
- Candidates & Interns: We offer sessions with our highly trained Master’s-level Interns and Candidates at a reduced rate. These clinicians receive rigorous supervision and bring fresh, up-to-date energy to their work with children. Ask about immediate availability.
FAQ
What if my teen refuses to go to therapy?
This is common. We recommend framing it as a “trial run.” Ask them to commit to just three sessions to see if it’s a good fit. Often, once they realize we aren’t there to “fix them” for their parents, they choose to stay.
Will you give me updates?
We will give you general updates on themes (e.g., “We are working on anxiety coping skills”) and we will always involve you in safety planning. However, we will not read you a transcript of the session.
Do you prescribe medication?
We are Psychotherapists and Counselors, so we do not prescribe medication. However, if we believe medication could support the therapy process, we can refer you to trusted psychiatrists or nurse practitioners who work with teens.
Give Them a Space to Be Heard
Help your teen build the resilience they need for adulthood. Our Arvada therapists are ready to support your family through this transition.
